Photoncycle

Photoncycle is a Norwegian energy-storage company that builds solid-state hydrogen systems for seasonal storage — storing surplus summer solar for winter heating and electricity at household scale. Founded by Bjørn Brandtzæg, it targets lower, more predictable year-round energy costs versus short-duration lithium-ion batteries, with heat recovery when paired with heat pumps, and plans a subscription model bundling rooftop solar, ~10,000 kWh seasonal storage and servicing. In March 2026 Photoncycle raised a €15 million Series A co-led by Voima Ventures and NordicNinja, with Lifeline Ventures, Eviny Ventures, Luminar Ventures and Momentum participating. Capital funds commercial rollout in Denmark and the Netherlands and the first phase of industrialisation toward a proposed large manufacturing facility.
