Move24 Group GmbH was a Berlin-based startup founded in 2015 by Anton Rummel, Carsten Bild, and Marcel Rangnow. The company aimed to disrupt the traditional moving industry by providing an online platform for booking and managing relocation services across Europe. Its business model involved taking customer removal orders and subcontracting the execution to local moving companies. The platform's technology was designed to simplify the moving process for customers and optimize logistics for its partners, including route optimization to reduce costs. The company targeted a broad client base, from individuals and families to businesses, offering a seamless process from obtaining a fixed-price quote to the final move. It also planned to become a one-stop-shop for all services related to relocation, such as changing energy and internet providers. Move24 operated in several European markets, including Germany and France. Move24 demonstrated rapid growth, securing significant funding from notable investors. The company raised a total of $35.9 million over four rounds from investors including innogy SE, DN Capital, Piton Capital, and Holtzbrinck Ventures. A Series B round in October 2016 brought in €13 million, and a Series C round in 2017 raised another $14.27 million. This capital was intended to fuel technological development and international expansion. Despite its initial success and substantial funding, Move24 faced significant operational challenges and entered preliminary insolvency proceedings in February 2018. The company's business model, which relied on subcontractors, encountered issues, and the firm was unable to guarantee the execution of moving contracts, leading to uncertainty for customers. In March 2018, key assets of Move24, including its brand and domain, were sold to its competitor, Movinga. The official insolvency proceedings for Move24 Group GmbH were opened in May 2018.
