The story of IBA Group begins not in a garage, but as a strategic partnership. In 1993, computing giant IBM looked to Minsk, a hub of mainframe expertise, and co-founded the International Business Alliance (IBA) as a joint venture with local IT organizations. The mission was to leverage deep engineering talent. Leading this new entity was Sergei Levteev, who was appointed CEO and has remained at the helm throughout the company's evolution. A pivotal moment arrived in 1999 when IBM withdrew as a part-owner. This could have been an existential threat, but instead, it became a catalyst for transformation. Under Levteev's leadership, IBA embarked on a diversification strategy, expanding its services beyond its mainframe roots. The company pushed into new technologies and explored new markets, setting up its first international office in the US in 1998. This journey of reinvention led to the formation of IBA Group, which relocated its headquarters to Prague in 2005. From its origins as a specialized joint venture, the company has grown into a global IT service provider with a workforce of thousands. It now offers a wide array of solutions, from cloud technologies and data analytics to AI and enterprise applications, demonstrating a remarkable evolution from its focused beginnings.
