Next-generation inference chips for frontier AI models MoreLess
Fractile is a London AI-hardware company founded in 2022 by CEO Walter Goodwin (PhD AI/robotics, University of Oxford) and co-founder Yuhang Song that builds specialised inference chips and systems for frontier models. Its architecture targets the memory-bandwidth bottleneck that slows long-token generation on GPUs, aiming to make large-scale inference faster and more economical for research and production workloads. After raising about $17.5 million including a $15 million 2024 seed (Kindred Capital, Oxford Science Enterprises, NATO Innovation Fund and semiconductor angels), in May 2026 Fractile closed a $220 million Series B co-led by Accel, Factorial Funds and Founders Fund, with Conviction, Gigascale, O1A, Felicis, Buckley Ventures and 8VC, to advance chip and system development and hiring across London, Bristol, San Francisco and Taipei.
