CloudMade

CloudMade develops artificial intelligence and machine learning-based solutions for the automotive industry. The company was founded in 2007 by Juha Christensen and Nick Black. In January 2024, Stellantis acquired CloudMade's AI framework, machine learning models, intellectual property rights, and patents. As part of the acquisition, 44 of CloudMade's engineers and software developers joined Stellantis.

The company's core offerings include a cloud and software development kit (SDK) designed to collect and analyze automotive data. This technology enables features like predictive maintenance and diagnostics, personalized in-car experiences, a proprietary voice assistant, and an advanced navigation system. CloudMade's platform utilizes several learning approaches, including personalized learning to predict individual driver behavior, fleet learning from sensor data across multiple vehicles, and cohort learning which combines data from clustered user groups. The business model focused on licensing its core technologies and providing systems integration expertise to automotive OEMs to help them create unique mobility and infotainment experiences.

Over its history, CloudMade raised a total of $16.1 million in funding over four rounds from investors including Greylock, Sunstone, and Intel Capital. The acquisition by Stellantis is intended to accelerate the development of the STLA SmartCockpit, a key component of Stellantis's software-defined vehicle strategy.
